I love animals and the outdoors. My favorite things to do are sports, such as volleyball and soccer, fishing, camping, and hunting. I have two brothers and a sister, and a multitude of pets.

I fully believe that changes in society lead to changes in culture. For example music. During the 60s there was music written about race and rights because of what was occurring during that time. Then music fetishized a rock and roll life style. Music helps to push for change but is not the sole enforcer. Now music is present everywhere we go. In the car, at home, on tv, in stores, etc. It has become a large role in our daily lives and devices have made it even more accessible.
I fully agree with your response. Music is indeed everywhere. It is constantly changing, whether that is for the good or the bad. It effects people’s emotions and how they live their lives. Thank you for your response!!
In my room, the posters of some of my favorite music artists and creators are hung. Not to mention, with all of this extra time, it’s a rare occurrence to see me without earbuds listening to my playlist— not to mention my relentless singing and dancing. So, saying music is everywhere would almost be an understatement. However, the degree of exposure music is today does not take away from its impact. Artists create entire albums dedicated to societal issues, such as drug addiction, relationships, and self-worth, and direct a large portion of profits towards charities. I deem myself as an enormous advocate for the music industry, which is larger than ever and continues to grow. An awesome presentation, Olivia ❤
Olivia, great job on your presentation!! I personally found this reading interesting because I am a huge supporter of music and I think it is a great way for people to express themselves and also for listeners to feel understood. I love listening to music while doing mundane tasks such as cleaning my room or going for a drive. I can understand why Venkatesh thought music was distracting people from their surroundings, but I think sometimes it’s good to be distracted from the world around you and sort of refresh your mind and relax.
Olivia, i really enjoyed your presentation and I felt as though it embodied what the article was explaining. I can understand how societal change plays a role in music. As there are certain types of music that are linked to cultures, which I think is really cool. I could also agree with music being distracting, but it is also sometimes very nice to have as background noise for doing tasks during the day. Music also makes boring things, like driving, more interesting. Overall great PowerPoint!!!
Music is so important in my life and the fact that this article really touched base on something like this, it made me very happy to read. Music effects everyone’s daily aspirations and their actions, just by simple guitar riffs or even the gentle tap of a keyboard. It totally is a distraction, but like Ailsa said, who doesn’t need a distraction? Many people tend to turn to music when there isn’t anything else and I have mad respect for it. Music is a way of expression and even self-acceptance.
I agree with you on the effectiveness of music on today’s world. Every one takes to it differently and has a different thought process. It can provide many feelings towards different people. It is 100% a distraction on all the terror days right now bring. Thank you for the comment!!
Olivia, agree that music is virtually everywhere, it is used by people to listen to it, as background noise as a way to get you hyped up, and many other reasons. Also, music helps calm us and distract us from our everyday life. Also, as culture continues to change, music changes with it. Before people sang about rights and black freedom. Now people sing about what goes on it life, how they live, and the different aspects of our culture. I loved your presentation. Great post!!
hey olivia!! I really enjoyed your powerpoint:) i think music is a really useful way to express yourself. I understand how it could be distracting and where Vankatesh is coming from. However i do believe it is good for many things. Good presentation 🙂
I agree that it is distracting sometimes. I’ll be reading a book and listening to music, and the next thing u know I have no clue what I have read or what is going on. Vankatesh proved this point well. Music is great for a multitude of tasks, and is unique to each and every person.
Olivia, great job on your presentation. Music is all around us wherever we go and during everything we do. It’s crazy how the way we consume music now has totally changed from previous decades. I remember when each individual song had to be individually downloaded, and that was just a decade ago. Now, every song you’ve ever heard or listened to is available thanks to new and improved technology. It has made music consumption easier and available to most everyone. Great post.
Olivia, you did very good on your presentation. I like the way that you were able to summarize your reading up in two slides. The two slides, I feel, gave us a great overview of the reading as well as more. Music is definitely something that is big in today’s world. Just about ever human listens to music whether or not it’s in the car, through a phone, or even in your local grocery store. The iPod had definitely changed the way we listen to music because it created it so that we had music right wherever we wanted it. It made it so listening to music while working out was easy. The iPod gave inspiration to so many more inventions revolving around music. Music has been around since the beginning of time. When you step back and look at how far it has come you can really be amazed. Like I was saying you did a great job on this assignment. I liked that you put examples of places you find music on your daily life. Music is something that people can find emotion in. I feel that if is definitely a health thing for people to have. Music can take you away from reality for a second. Music is also something that bring people together. For example, concerts. Concerts can unite people that have the same interest. Music also can help people express themselves through there own songs. So great job Olivia it was a wonderful presentation. Very proud!
