My corona experience

April 30th,

Another day that we are held in quarantine. In this free time I have been going on hikes. I took a hike today. It was an hour drive out to the spot. This hike was in total 6 miles. The hike was called The Bear Cave hike. When I woke up at 7 this morning I started to doubt that this was a good idea. It was raining and the weather forecast for the day was 100% chance of rain all day. I had been looking forward to going for a hike all last night so I decided I would still go. I packed my lunch for the day. One thing that I have learned I love over this quarantine is pita bread, turkey, avocado sandwiches. This quarantine has also helped me learn how to cook and eat healthier. I got to the hiking trail around 9 in the morning. As I walked the hike it felt good to get outside and have some fresh air. The hike had some uphill and down hill but honestly was an easy hike. The bear caves they advertises in the title were very interesting. It only took me about 30 min of my 3 hour hike to reach them. When I finished the hike I realized I did the hike the wrong way. The hike was not a big loop but rather a half circle. You do not end up at the spot you started. I knew this when I started the hike because I looked at the map right at the start of the trail. I just didn’t realize the other end was the better place to start. While hiking the rest of the trail after the cave I found pretty flowers that were just starting to bloom. The rain on the hike really was not a down side of things. I honestly enjoyed it. It was not pouring down but at the end of the hike I was definitely soaked. Overall I would definitely do this hike again. Getting outside is nice so if you haven’t done a hike yet you should!

This was one of the trees I saw on my hike. I was curious why it was bent in such an odd way. After doing a bit of research I discovered that, bent trees are clear Native American trail markers. The original residents of North American soil used to strap the trees down and allow them to grow so the bend became permanent. The bend would point Natives in the direction of a path, stream, or river.
These are two of the flowers that I took pictures of while on my hike. 🌸
