Announcement 4/19

Hello everyone!

Thanks for all the fabulous stories about your partners from blog #5.

Nice work on the ongoing presentations as well~Perhaps some of you may think that I am not watching because I do not participate in your discussion, but here is a reminder that I am very aware of what is happening. Make sure your audience replies are hitting ALL parts of the original guidelines or you will not receive points and unfortunately your grade has been and will be impacted. Hopefully the coming days are better!

For Blog #6 your final upload(s) to our site: I want you to write a sort of Corona Diary, with at least 6 entries of at least 300 wed per entry. The purpose of the assignment is to demonstrate your understanding of some of the trends and events of this moment in time while trying to make them more “real” as they impact people.

Each of you will be writing these “diary” entries based on your own experiences being quarantined, health concerns, and whatever else you can think of. Feel free to be candid and brutal. You will compose all the entries in a singular post using the editing feature to add to the document as you like. You are welcome to add pictures, videos and whatever else you’d like! Be detailed, factual, and creative in your title, writing, and be sure to date the entries.

There is a minimum of 6 posts a they are due on the last day of class 05/10!

A bit of advice: You have 3 weeks to do the final assignment, if you post 2 entries a week you’ll be fine! Do NOT post all of them in a week. I’ll be checking regularly as I do now and recording your progress for your grades.

Here’s a picture of my (new-ish) fluffy boys as encouragement!Email/text me with questions, comments and concerns–Have fun with this!

A How-to on updating your post to make multiple entries!

3/26 Announcement

Hi Everyone,
I kinda took Wednesday to rethink parts of your course that were meant to be face-to-face into an asynchronous online space, meaning that the work has a loose completion timeline.

READING PRESENTATIONS:For your reading discussions– FACILITATORs, you will post a Powerpoint/Google Slide to the blog detailing your summary, interpretations, and connections of your assigned readings. AUDIENCE, you will respond according to their presentation with those thoughts and your interpretations and connections (250–wrd limit). FACILITATORS, will also respond to at least 3 of the comments written over the course of the week.

Due dates will go as such:Facilitators will post their presentation on the course due dates (Mon/Wed) and audience replies need to be up within a two day span (Wed/Fri) and Facilitators will respond to the 3 replies by Sunday.
Makes sense?

BLOG #5

We have Blog #5 coming up and for this one, I want you all to partner up! (post below)
It will be due on 4/15 as this coming week we have 4 people doing their reading presentation (2 on Monday and 2 on wednesday) and I want to give everyone some time to get used to the new way we’re doing things!

For blog #5, I want them emailed to me with a photo of your partner so they can be posted under a singular space. We are doing a spin on Humans of New York! This is a new style of writing that I want you all to observe and try out. Writing a story about a real person through and interview.
So we have 3 parts:

  1. Find a partner
  2. Conduct and interview (Guide for creating Qs and an overview of HoNY)
  3. Write the story of them with picture
  4. Send to me by 4/15

Does this make sense?

3/23 Monday Daily Announcement

Despite the COVID-19 shut down, it seems like you all had some lovely adventures! What I want you to do today is read over a few of your class mates posts and comment on how they’re using the literary devices we sought to employ: is the implementation successful? Is the usage clear? Could the use of another made their message stronger? Overall ideas about how they told their story utilizing the style units?

Everyone comment on at least 2 other people’s posts by Wednesday! Let’s make sure everyone’s piece gets comments. To make sure your responses have some hearty advice and feedback make sure it is at least 250 words!

Hope the other online classes are going well.

Stay healthy!
