  1. This reading was very interesting, and I loved your PowerPoint and the way that you connected it to the way that we live. I have never saw us as humans being like zombies, but In a messed up sort of way we are. My question is do you think that as we get more involved in social media and media in general if we will evolve more in the “zombie” life?

    1. Hey! First off thank you! It’s crazy to think that we could ever relate to something fiction-like. I definitely think that we will evolve into a more zombie-like lifestyle as media evolves. We spend so much of our time on social media, and it’s almost controlling it. I definitely notice myself opening the same social medias over and over again, even if I just closed the app. It’s probably only going to get worse as more media comes out and evolves.

  2. Nataly, I love your presentation, it’s probably my favorite so far!! I enjoyed it so much because it is so relevant to the situation we are all in. I often feel like everyday is the same for me, even when I’m not in quarantine during a pandemic. I have honestly never thought of zombies being so closely related to us and our routines. It’s a little scary, honestly. It’s stressful to think about how monotonous our routines are in general, but once it’s all related to zombies, it becomes terrifying. How could we let ourselves get to that point?? I think before reading this, I was letting myself become a zombie and just sit in my house and do close to nothing. Now that I’ve read this and realized that this is not how life is supposed to be, I will find ways to make my days more unique and exciting. Great job, Nataly!!

    1. Thank you so much, Ailsa! When I started this assigment I didn’t think we would compare to zombies at all, seeing as we’re re fully intact and living. The more I read the more I realized I was definitely was like that. To answer your question, I think we thought we could find and lead more exciting lives online, and stuck to those instead of spending time outside the screen. We got so used to a specific routine, and it’s hard to break the cycle. I agree with you, I definitely want to find more exciting ways to lead my life. Thank you again!! Stay safe

  3. Nat! Fantastic job on centering yourself in such a relevant reading to today’s situation. With this virus outbreak, many are panicking about the upcoming “apocalypse” and claiming that perhaps COVID-19 may be where we meet our match. It is entirely true, as stated in your power point and points from the article, that people tend to fear what they don’t have all of the facts on. They tend to just jump right into what the worst could be and that’s the start of the anxiety. The movie Groundhog Day touches base on doing the same thing over and over again, and this is the same concept I got from this reading/presentation. Like Ailsa, im realizing that I really don’t mix up my routine, instead stick to the same thing and live my life in quarantine. Thank you for letting me realize how unboring and interesting I can make life at home!

    1. Hi, Ash! Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it! I can’t say I’ve ever watched Groundhog Day, but I’m taking your word for it. I feel like nowadays, especially in the light of COVID-19, we are definitely fearful and ancious about the situation. I’m glad my PowerPoint helped you! Stay safe, love.

  5. Nat I loved your PowerPoint. The set up, colors, and information flow kept me reeled in. When it comes to tv/movies I’ve never been interested in zombies. I feel that there’s something better I can watch rather than slow, decaying dead people. However, I do believe that humans are walking zombies. We preform the same monotonous tasks everyday without even thinking. Now with COVID-19 we are even more zombified. Staying at home creates a new schedule that we follow. Most of us don’t even know what day it is but we continue the same tasks we have been doing for 3 weeks. Ashley brought up the movie Groundhog Day, which is honestly what we’re living today. It also doesn’t help that zombies are associated to the apocalypse, which many believe is happening with the pandemic.

  6. First off, your PowerPoint was great!! I loved the colors and the set up. I especially enjoyed how you added your take of the reading on the last slide. I also agree with you about humans becoming zombies. I was skeptical when I first read it, but now it makes sense. I often have said to friends that during this quarantine it’s like living the same day over and over. Which is actually kind of scary, now reading this article. I think that this article was very relevant and you did a great job on your PowerPoint!

  7. I think I speak for everyone when I say the redundancy of school work and subjects similar is quite tiresome. The act of repeating myself over and over again in an essay or completing my third review of a chapter in some subject is horribly agonizing. I can’t help but feel remorse for those “zombies”; brain after brain, steadily pacing to the next zombie horde. I also note that I adore horror films, terrifying stories and such. I only hope this doesn’t mean I’m bound for a life of never-ending circles. Truly my favorite presentation yet, Nataly! You popped off, 10/10 ❤

  8. Nataly i loved the power point that you have created. I loved how colorful it was. I also enjoyed how you added the icons to make it even better. This power point was right to the point of the reading. It is crazy how we can relate to zombies so well. I really liked how you gave examples of how we repeat tasks which leads to this zombie like behavior. The task you put I feel related to most everyone in the class. This power point really relates to what is going on in our daily lives. With the Coronavirus causing the world to self quarantine we find ourselves with a limited selection of things to do. This usually causes us to repeat what we do multiple days in a row. The repetition leads to zombie like behavior. Looking through social media was another example that was used that create this zombie like behavior. When we scroll through Instagram we are barely thinking. We are just sitting there staring at a screen. This example is the one that I think really stood out to me. Sometimes people will go to talk to us and we will not even hear them bc we are so focus on scrolling or reading something from the phone. It starts to get scary when you think about it. How far could it really go? Is social media the way we will be controlled? This presentation got me thinking which proves you did an outstanding job. This was a wonderful presentation Nataly I really enjoyed it.

  9. Nataly, that was a really good presentation. I just so happened to be watching The Walking Dead when I read your PowerPoint so it kinda went along with my night. You did a great job connecting zombies to our everyday lives. I agree with you, technically has made things simpler but have also made people dumber. It takes away from thinking for yourself and rots your brain. Everything is a routine now, and like you said, people daily just go on social media and spend their time accomplishing nothing. It has taken over the world just like zombies. Great post.

  10. Lili, I absolutely loved your PowerPoint. Not only were you to the point on critical information, but you expanded on that data and added your own thoughts. Your presentation was a very easy read. Your set up was great. You were able to pick apart how we,as humans, are like zombies in every thing we do. I do, however, disagree that it is a scary thing. I believe that following the same routine every day helps the mind process what is happening on different levels. This keeps stress and anxiety at a minimum. When we do not follow that routine, we get mixed up and out of sorts. Andrea’s PowerPoint is a perfect example of this. We follow the same routine everyday, but once we hit a spot where we have more time, we don’t know what to do. Your PowerPoint was by far the best I have read yet. Love you!
