  1. Hi, Andrea!
First of all, I really liked your PowerPoint setup! I liked how you had everything laid out. It was really helpful that you included what things meant and how it related to what you were talking about. I found it helpful that you went into depth on your topic and gave a lot of background on it. I felt like I learned even more about the reading from your PowerPoint. Why do you think it is that we have a hard time handling a surplus of time? Don’t you think that we would benefit from the extra time? I know I definitely have a hard time dealing with a surplus of time; I never know what to do with it. It was interesting to see how you connected huge changes to the current global pandemic. It has been such a huge change to all of us, and it definitely relates to your reading in terms of surplus time. The data behind it is always changing, which is really crazy/ I never really thought about how we all want to comprehend more than we can understand, but now that I think about it, that’s definitely true. Anyways, I think you did such a nice job on the PowerPoint! Hope your quarantine is going well, and that you’re not too bored haha.

    1. Hey Nat! I believe that your statement after your question almost answers it for yourself! Some may be harder than others, but when having a lot of time on our hands, peoples minds can wander to places they didn’t want it to. That can be a big trouble for people with anxiety, depression, etc. but for some, it can be an amazing thing to have a ton of time on our hands! Thank you for commenting and I am glad that you liked it! Stay safe

  2. Andrea, I really liked your presentation!! You did a very good job of focusing on the main points of the article and making sure that the reader understands the article clearly. I really appreciated how you related the article to our current situation. I am sure everyone is struggling with quarantine in their own ways, but a lot of people are definitely struggling with the surplus of time. Many people have been very productive while a lot of other people have been feeling anxiety from the panic and everything, this makes it hard to make the best of all your free time. For me, it depends on the day. Some days I really like having time to just relax and do whatever I want. On the other hand, too much free time leads to me watching too much netflix and staring at my phone for too long. That’s where I am now!!! Again, great presentation! 🙂 How do you generally deal with surplus time?

    1. Hey Ailsa, I appreciate you liking the presentation! Most definitely my surplus time is spent in an inefficient way😂 I tend to also find myself becoming a couch potato and not doing things I know I could be. However, some days I get really motivated and do a bunch of work to make up for my lack of effort sometimes. I’m glad you liked it! Thank you for the awesome question!

  3. Ange, this was a really big eye opener to read! I just finished Nat’s and I like how they both have similar properties when it comes to time and how you spend it. Essentially, this article is a reminder to spend time wisely and to show how important it is to remain patient but also how it’s important to find something in your surplus of time! I love that this connected with current times and how it takes time for things to evolve and change- just like characters in a show, good alcohol, and even the crappy coronavirus. This article is very important to realize right now and you hit it spot on. Nice job’

    1. Awe Ashley! Coming from you that means a lot, you do great work! Along with everyone else in the class! When it comes to finding what to do with surplus time, I think it is just what makes us the most inspired. That is the beauty in the world and with all the change, we can all find different things to inspire us and use our time to find ourselves. Thank you for your comment on my post I appreciate it!

  4. Andrea, I love how you set up your presentation and included all of that information. I think you hit all the major points of the article which helps readers follow along better. This article helps readers understand the importance of monitoring their surplus time. Also, I love how you included our current situation to discuss how rapidly things change. I think surplus time is good but in a sense that too much of it will cause laziness or create room for trouble. Great Post!

    2. Hey Ange, I really like how you broke up your information in the different slides. It made it easier to comprehend and connect to the reading. I personally have a love/hate relationship with surplus time. Before corona I felt that if I had all this free time I was doing something wrong. I knew that there’s always something to be done, but didn’t know what I needed to do which gave me anxiety. Now with corona I spend my days watching Netflix, occasionally going to work, and sleeping. With all my free time it’s made me realize how stress-ridden I’ve been. I’m no longer way overwhelmed thanks to all this new free time.

  5. Nice powerpoint. Your descriptions were very thorough yet summarized enough to not get bored when reading it. Your powerpoint discusses all of the important things and takeaways we all should have gotten when reading it. This article is very relevant, considering we are in quarantine and have a lot of surplus time. Nice job.

  7. Great PowerPoint!!! I really enjoyed how connected it was to the reading and how well you set it up. I feel as though all of the information you provided was helpful and relevant! I also agree that there are distractions in everyday life, especially now that we have a surplus of time. This is very relevant to our current situation. Especially how we need to monitor this surplus of time in order to still be productive. Overall, great job!!

  8. One thing I want to make clear, this pandemic situation is a real pain, in my opinion. I can attest to this article in saying that this free time has driven me absolutely bonkers. I never thought I’d say it, but I miss my job, school, and having assignments to keep me busy. I try my best to remain productive, but often fall short out of fear of it being all for nothing or having little impact. However, I recognize the necessity to remain positive. I discovered ways to remain calm in meditation and I make an effort to talk to friends daily. A very lovely PowerPoint! I thoroughly enjoyed how you elaborated on the topics in your own words, and hope to view more in the future.

  9. Andrea, I enjoyed your presentation a lot. I liked how in depth you went with each and every slide. You did a wonderful job in summarizing our reading assignment. I really liked how you put like pictures into the first main slide. It added to your slide to make it better. I love how this reading kind of relates to what is going on today with us. Due to the cancellation of school and not being able to spend time with friends, we find ourselves with a surplus amount of time. Waking up early in the morning and going into class was something that I always hated. I had wished I had more free time in my hands so I could just relax. With this time off of school due to the Coronavirus I have so much time on my hands. After a good week I honestly do miss going into sbu and definitely miss hanging out with my friends. The extra time can been seen being spend on Netflix or on our phones. Personally this is where I find myself if I am not doing college work or at work. This starts to open my eyes to how much time I really have. This was a wonderful presentation and I love the way you put it all together. You did such a great job. It was unique it its own way. I was able to learn something from your slides. I can tell you spent a lot of time on it. Wonderful job.

  10. Andrea, great presentation. It had a good flow to it and I learned a lot. I liked how you included how things used to be, and related it to modern day. It gave me a better understanding of the material and got the information across well. I liked how you added how not everyone’s surplus of time is spent the same. Everyone spends there day differently. Even if most people are binging shows, there are tons of shows out there and people watch different ones. People can like different things and therefore watch different shows. Great post.

  11. Hi! I loved your PowerPoint. I feel that you put forth the effort to make sure all the information was provided that we, as an audience, needed to know. You provided many facts that give a better understanding of the topic at hand. My favorite part of the PowerPoint was where you talked about Pluto. This example provided more insight into how data is constantly changing, and further evolving.
